In 1946, Mário Barbeito, founded our small island firm, to create limited quantities of bespoke Madeira wines.
In February 1996 this wine started its aging in two old French oak casks of 700 liters each (23 and 24) until that time were used to store very old wines. The wood of those casks, which has been in contact with old wines for many decades, has given this harvest a “old wine” character that makes it so distinct. In June 2010, we bottled 1086 bottles, all individually numbered.

SERVING & CELLARAGE
Serve between 13/14oC.
This wine was filtered and does not require decanting.
It was bottled ready for drinking; it will last and maintain in good condition several months once opened.
TASTING NOTES
Amber colour.
Hints of apricot and plum, some dry leaf. Notes of brown sugar and a light caramel submerge from the background. Viscous palate with an excellent dryness towards a long spicy ending.
Excellent as a digestif.
Rich Fruit and Sponge Cakes, Chocolate, Crystallized Fruit, Foie-gras and Cheese.
