Mário Barbeito, was born in Funchal in 1905 and passed away in the same city, in 1985. In addition to his love for wine, reading and books were his other great passions. The History of Madeira, the History of Christopher Columbus and the discovery of America were the main themes of his personal library with more than twenty- five thousand volumes that were unfortunately lost in the floods of February 2010. To pay tribute to his grandfather, Ricardo Diogo decided to create this Bastardo over 50 Years Old in which he blended wines that were produced over the past years, from São Jorge Vineyards with some of the oldest ones left by him. In June 2017, 550 bottles were filled, all individually numbered.

TASTING NOTES AND HARMONIES
Amber Color.
Sophisticated bouquet with a hint of wood that blends with exotic spice, layers of Butterscotch and passion fruit, reminding candies. Crystallized fruit cake with a touch of nutmeg. Creamy, harmonious palate and good unctuosity. Lush and mouth filling with more than enough acidity for balance.
Excellent as a digestif, pairs well with cheese.
